Sopore, Feb 05 (KNO): Advocate Mursaleen, who contested the Sopore Assembly seat on an Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) ticket in the recent elections, has announced her disassociation from the party. Adv Mursaleen, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), clarified that her decision was not driven by any differences with AIP’s leadership but was a personal choice. She expressed deep respect for Er Rashid and wished for his early release. “I hereby declare my disassociation from AIP in every manner and it has nothing to do with my love and regard for the party chief Er Rashid. May Allah bless him with his release and freedom," she said. Mursaleen, while stepping away from the party, assured her supporters that she remains committed to her people and the constituency. “I am not leaving my people, nor the constituency—I am there for my every voter till my last breath,” she asserted. Taking to social media, she described her departure as a painful experience, comparing it to the grief she felt upon losing her father. “Painful goodbye to AIP. It pains me the same way as when I said goodbye to my father,” she wrote. Adv Mursaleen finished with a distant second in the assembly elections, while Irshad Rasool Kar of the National Conference (NC) emerged victorious, securing a massive margin of 20,356 votes—(KNO)
